Ephesians 4:1-16

Living a life ‘worthy of our calling’ involves love and unity – in Christ’s body (1-4,16)

Within this unity there is diversity – for the purpose of building the whole (7-11)

The goal is growth and maturity, in Christ. (14-16)

Putting this into practice in the leafy western suburbs of Brisbane….

• Be taught to serve
• And serve to grow
• Love Christ’s Church

Maturity in Christ

Paul prays for his reader’s maturity (vv. 14-19)

But first, he explains the mystery, now revealed (vv. 2-13)

All of this leads Paul to praise God… again! (vv. 20-21)

You were once far off:
divided, excluded, without hope, without God

But now… Christ has brought you near:
reconciled, members of God’s household

Together, we are God’s temple:
with Jesus as the cornerstone

Remember who you WERE:
dead in your transgressions and sins

Remember who you ARE:
alive, raised up, seated in heaven

Remember what you are to DO:
good works which God prepared for us to do

Ephesians 1:15-23

Paul’s prayer
He gives thanks to God for working in the Ephesians

And he asks that God would continue to work in them, so they would:

• Grow in knowing
• the hope …
• the riches …
• the power …

And a reminder of God’s power
