John shows us Jesus’ humanity and his divinity

These events took place to glorify Jesus…      (11:4)

…the resurrection and the life            (11:25-26)

 

And these events are recorded that you might believe

 

As we finish our time in John’s gospel, can you declare with Thomas – that Jesus is your Lord and God (20:28)

The Shepherd and His Sheep

John 10

(Reading 10:1-24)

 

Jesus is the Good Shepherd 

• He uses the gate (10:1-6)

• He is the gate (10:7-9)

• He gives his life for his sheep, voluntarily (10:10-13, 17-18)

• He knows all his sheep (10:14-16)

 

Jesus’ sheep listen to His voice (10:4-5, 16)

While the Jewish leaders display the sorry reality of spiritual blindness

 

 

Along the way John causes us to think about the relationship between sickness and sin

Now Jesus says “I am the light…”       (Jn 8:12)

 

John shows us the darkness of:  

The Pharisees’ human judgement  (Jn 8:12-20)

  

      and the Jews’ worldly thinking      (Jn 8:21-30)

  

Everything will be clearer – when Jesus is ‘lifted up’
