Worship and Perseverance in Hebrews

Encouragement for individuals,

– look to Old Testament witnesses

– look to Jesus

– remember God’s word

– be strengthened

Exhortation for Church

– word at peace and holiness

– beware bitter roots

 

The warning – Listen to God’s voice                                            (v18-25)

 

And look to our unshakeable hope                          (v26-29)

Hebrews 10:26-12:3

 

Don’t deliberately keep sinning?           (10:26ff)

 

 

You need to persevere..                      (10:36ff & 12:1-3)

• “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.”
• “run with perseverance the race marked out for us”

Consider the cloud of witnesses            (11:1ff)

 

And fix your eyes on Jesus                  (12:2-3)
